Yesterday I hosted my first official event as Art Chapter President of the JSU Alumni Association and it was a big success. I am so happy, and relieved, at our turnout and the flow of events, and our alumni show looked fantastic thanks to the amazing Morgan Worsham.

The Art Department and the people that have passed through its doors have always held a very special place in my heart. It’s a place that has often felt like home, the people like family, and our gathering yesterday felt just like a family reunion.

Many thanks to Jacksonville State University Department of Art and Jacksonville State University Alumni Association. Our event wouldn’t have been possible without their generous assistance and support. Photos from the event can be found on the Department of Art’s Facebook page and in the JSU Art Alumni Facebook group.

The Art Show included work by 20 alumni with graduates ranging from 1977 to 2017, and we had over 40 attendees at our event throughout the day (I lost count at 42). The day kicked off with a Meet & Greet where Chapter President Carol Record, and Department Head Seth Johnson shared news with alumni, and was then followed by a tour of the Roundhouse, Carlisle Fine Arts Facility, and Hammond Hall.

The Art Show reception kicked off at 4pm with catering by fabulous Garfrerick’s of Oxford. Attendees were also treated to a photo booth set up by Carol and Karl Record for the event.
