It’s almost time for the Visual Arts Society (VAS) Gala which means AnnaMaria and I are busying photographing artwork and working our design magic on invitations, catalogs, and other nifty things.

The Visual Arts Society is an organization that raises money for equipment for the Art Department & for Student Scholarships. They raise money by having an art auction every spring, that includes work by artists of all levels. I donated a small watercolor painting of a snail. I’m pretty fond of it, but am glad to donate it for a good cause. I had to write my first official ‘About the Artist’ statement which felt a bit strange. Hopefully I’ll get better at that sort of thing in time.

This is AnnaMaria and my second year working on projects for the VAS together. Last year we designed auction catalogs, a program, silent auction sheets, and table tents. This past fall we drastically reworked a logo design and created a letterhead for them. This spring we designed a newsletter, save-the-date, and an invitation. We are currently working on the catalogs and other print work for the upcoming gala. I’ll post images of our work once I have my files in hand.

About Snail

A small watercolor painting of a snail made for JSU’s annual MiniWorks Exhibition. It had been awhile since I’d worked with watercolors but this little guy came out pretty cute. The original was sold at the end of the exhibition but small prints are available.
