Alt. Process: The Exhibition

Alt. Process This collection of work features images created through alternative photographic processes (non-silver gelatin) in the Alternative Processes in Photography class. JSU Student Art Gallery October 30th - December 3rd, 2019 I organized and helped install this art show in the JSU Student Art Gallery. This project was one of the requirements for my graduate Alt. Process class, and it was a really good experience. Collecting work for the exhibit was a bit of a challenge so the show ended up being mostly my work, but also included several pieces by Abigail Read, Morgan Worsham, and Evan Thomas. Work [...]

Calhoun County Community Arts Show

Calhoun County Community Art Show Hammond Gallery | Jacksonville State University August 27th - September 17th, 2019 Reception: August 27th, 5-7 PM   Artist Statement Cyanotypes get their name from the signature blue hue of the developed prints. This dreamy blue photographic process is achieved by coating a receptive surface with a mixture of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide, and then exposing that surface to UV light. These two prints were created by hand coating cyanotype chemistry onto paper, carefully positioning subject matter on the coated surfaces, exposing each to light, and then developing the prints in water [...]

Art Alumni Show, 2019

Art Alumni Show 2019 Hammond Gallery, Jacksonville State University May 20th - June 1st Closing Reception: June 1st, 4-6 PM This was my second year planning an art alumni reunion and show. It turned out great, but was bittersweet because of the recent passing of Dr. Karen Henricks. We had a Show & Tell from 2-4 PM, which included a short memorial for Dr. Henricks, and a gallery reception from 4-6 PM. I'd like to give a huge shout out to Morgan Worsham for all of her help putting this show together, and the Department of Art, and Alumni Relations [...]

Art Alumni Reunion & Show

Yesterday I hosted my first official event as Art Chapter President of the JSU Alumni Association and it was a big success. I am so happy, and relieved, at our turnout and the flow of events, and our alumni show looked fantastic thanks to the amazing Morgan Worsham. The Art Department and the people that have passed through its doors have always held a very special place in my heart. It's a place that has often felt like home, the people like family, and our gathering yesterday felt just like a family reunion. Many thanks to Jacksonville State University Department [...]

[Enclosed] A Juried Exhibition of Silver Gelatin Photography

One of my Advanced Darkroom Photography class assignments entails working with other advanced photo students to plan and host a photography show. We have now completed the first major steps in that we have chosen a theme, found jurors, created a prospectus and are now advertising our call for entry. This has been a fun project to work on. I've enjoyed learning more about this process and helping to plan out our own steps. I helped to refine our copy, designed our prospectus, printed, hung, and passed out fliers, and spread the word online through various means. Now we just sit [...]
