Mural Project: Coming Together

Karl and I made more progress on the mural. I can't believe how long it's taken to get this far. The weather is almost always against us. It's either too rainy and the paint runs or it's too hot and we get sick. I should have made all the people that signed up to help with this project sign some sort of contract. Oh well. I'm determined to complete this project. It's been a major learning experience. Summer is almost done and it's looking pretty cute.   Karl working on the tree line. He's almost always assigned [...]

My first cyanotypes

Cyanotypes (sun prints) made at an alumni workshop with Dr. Henricks awhile back. I love the vibrant blue color. It was fun to create these whimsical designs. I've been wanting to play with this medium again so I just ordered a couple of packs of sun print paper, aka nature print paper. I think the butterfly and dragonfly pair would be adorable in a little kids room. Dragonflies with Key Butterflies & Stars Artist Tools

Mural Project: Beginning Fall & Winter

Our mural features the four seasons of the year with bear and rabbit characters. Summer and spring are mostly complete. Today Karl worked on applying the second coat of green to the treeline while Taiki, Katrina, AnnaMaria, and I began painting the fall and winter scenes. We spent about five hours working on the mural before the heat depleted us. It's been slow and uncomfortable work thank to the hot summer sun shining down on the metal building. We have to take lots of hydration breaks to avoid becoming heat sick. We've learned a lot while working on this project. [...]

Liberty Not Debt

My senior show project 'Liberty, Not Debt!' is finally set up. This project consists of an educational brochure, postcard, and website. The website is no longer online but here's a few pictures of my setup. This project was very research heavy. I spent almost the entire semester reviewing government budget reports and figuring out what all the terms meant. I printed way too many postcards which I gave out as take-aways at the show. Finally learned how to make graphs in Illustrator. Check out my awesome graph making skills below. Liberty Not Debt, brochure and postcard

Hauteur: Luxurious Tea

Hauteur: Tea Branding & Packaging; 2010 This was a self-appointed branding/package design project I worked on during an independent study in graphic design class with Sharon Wasden. I was essentially designing my version of Starbucks for Tea.

Art Alliance Homecoming Banner

This year's homecoming theme is Paint the Town Red. AnnaMaria came up with an excellent design and is doing a fantastic job with the banner itself. Karl made the frame. Great job everyone!
