I designed a handout on How to Create a Contact Sheet in Adobe Bridge and Photoshop. I created it in Google Docs so I could share the file with others so they can modify it for their needs. I'm planning to do a lot of this kind of work for Blackwater Buccaneers Educational Resource Center, so please let me know if you have any requests or suggestions. To copy the file: Simply go to: File > Make a Copy and then name and save it to your own drive. Feel free to share with anyone you think could benefit from [...]
Photography Assignment Composition: Rule of Thirds Feel free to use and modify this assignment for your own use. Interested in taking your software/design skills to the next level? I am a huge fan of LinkedIn Learning, previously known as Lynda.com. LinkedIn Learning is an online video course provider with thousands of business, technical, and creative courses presented by industry experts. The content is well organized with each course broken up into small 2-10 minute video chunks that are easy to digest. It cost about $20-30 a month depending on the plan you choose, but you can get a one-month free trial to check it out. If you're a student at JSU the university provides free access to LinkedIn [...]
I just finished grading my students' first class project, and I couldn’t be prouder of their work! Digital Literacy is a course made up mostly of freshmen, many of whom have little to no experience working on Macs, let alone with Adobe Creative Cloud. This project serves as an introduction to research, brainstorming, and idea development, guiding students through the creative process and culminating in a five-step infographic. I think these turned out great, and I’m excited to see how they grow and develop over the semester! 📌 Project Details: University: Jacksonville State University Course: Digital Literacy for Artists & [...]
Learn how to Color Tone images using the Gradient Map tool in Photoshop. A Gradient Map is similar to a Levels Adjustment layer except that it applies different colors to various light levels. Gradient Maps are primarily used for coloring and toning images. Dive into gradient maps with this one minute tutorial by Adobe Creative Cloud (How to Make a Duotone Effect in Photoshop CC) or go a little deeper with How to Color Tone Using Gradient Maps by PHLEARN. In the example below the only edits made were a Gradient Map layer with a bit of the jackets and helmets masked [...]
