Hauteur: Luxurious Tea

Hauteur: Tea Branding & Packaging; 2010 This was a self-appointed branding/package design project I worked on during an independent study in graphic design class with Sharon Wasden. I was essentially designing my version of Starbucks for Tea.

Disconnected from Reality

I’ve battled depression on and off since the mid ’90s, and have often found myself feeling a surreal sense of awkwardness in different environments, and sometimes in my own skin. Immersing myself in books, films, and video games helps me manage my depression, but I’ve also wondered if immersing myself so fully into various stories has caused my recurrent feelings of disconnectedness to magnify. This project gave me the chance to visualize this feeling of not fitting in and of feeling surreal by exploring the juxtaposition of reality and fantasy through the use of photography and digital illustration.

Dallas Dragons, 2009 Class: Graphic Form & Illustration Instructor: Phil Kesler Assignment: Redesign a dragon mascot for a high school. (Dallas Dragons)

Cover Design: The Story of My Life by Helen Keller

Project Description Paperback book cover design for The Story of My Life by Helen Keller. A few of my classmates and I drove out to Ivy Green, Helen Keller’s home in Tuscumbia, AL to photograph and research ideas for our project. I was most impressed with the gigantic trees in the yard covered in ivy, which is most likely where the home got its name. I photographed the trees, the house, and the rest of the property and ended up using my photographs for reference for the digital painting featured on my cover design.
