Kitty Stone Elementary was looking to create a more “welcoming, inspiring, inviting, colorful and kid-friendly” atmosphere by incorporating a mural into their entry hall. Students in my pattern design class created three patterns each and were then instructed to share their patterns with classmates so students could create mural designs featuring patterns from the class. I didn’t want the mural to be too overwhelming so I chose to use only a handful of patterns from the class. My design focuses on bright colors and large bold shapes to create an exciting space.

My mural design was one of the designs selected for consideration, but the pandemic began in the midst of this project so the selection and execution of the mural were never completed.
